Unlike other cervids, deers don't have a tail. But the males can show off a big part of the year with their antlers. The chances to see a deer have increased these last years as there is a increase of the number of animals in our country.

During the winter months, females have a "apron", a white-grey zone of hair on the back that looks like a tail.

During the first months of their life, the youngs have white stains on their brown peel ("the Bambi syndrom").

Deers have big ears, big eyes and a pointy snout with a black nose (the muzzle).

Some of them also have one or more parts of the throat in a light colour.

Black deers also exist, in particular in the center of Germany.
Deers keep their wood during most of the year. Their wood fall every year (oktober-november) and new woods are formed during the winter months. During the winter months, males can be distinguished easily from the females. They both have a white spot on the back but females have a heart-shaped spot while males have a egg-shaped spot.
