Here are some informations about this impressive tree ; 

The beech takes a lot of light, leaving little possibilities to the vegetation to develop under this tree.  

The beech is toxic, expect for the beechnuts of whom certain animals are fond : squirrels, boars and woodpeckers. 

During the world war, beechnuts were used to make margarine. 

The wood of the beech is adapted in order to make furniture, floors, spoons and toys.

It can reach until 40 meters high.

200 until 300 years.

The wood of the beech was used to print first books. The word 'boek' in dutch, that means 'book', comes from the word 'beuk' that means 'beech'.

Never eat more than 20 beechnuts, especially if you are sensitive to nature because you could catch serious headaches. 

The beech is the giant of the forest. With his splendidly flared crown, he darkens the surrounding environment. He only tolerates small beeches under hes crown.  

The beech is very sensitive to the sun.
